I have six doors made of Philippine mahoghany that are 50 yrs old & ugly. I would love to paint them.
These are inside doors, to bedrms, bathroom & basement that have never been painted or stained. Can't afford to replace them. Suggestions for how to attain a glossy white finish? I'm also going to switch to glass knobs. Can Sears suggest?
Give the doors a light sanding (using fine grit sandpaper) to roughen the surface. Then apply a good quality coat of primer. Once the primer has dried, you can paint them with your desired final color of paint.
