Clean the cabinets using an ammonia-based cleaner. Rinse and let the cabinets dry.
Lightly sand the surface. Wipe down surfaces completely to remove all dust. Apply a good primer, such as "Kilz". Use a foam roller and work slowly to avoid air bubbles. Let this dry as directed on the product.After drying, sand the primer once very lightly. Again, wipe down the surfaces to remove all dust. Then you can paint the cabinets with your desired finish color.
