How do I get a remote garage door opener for the house I just purchased?

It's a 3 car garage, it has a Sears door but no remote. One is a 1/2 horsepower model # 139.53985 and the other is a model # 139.53335. Does someone have to come to the house to get it going?

You can find the remotes available for each model on the Sears Parts site under the Accessories sections. Use the model numbers and the instructions below to find the part numbers. You can order directly from the site or use the part numbers to purchase through your Sears Store.

There is no model 139.53335 but it is probably a 139.53335SRT3. If so, and the other model number is complete, then you will not be able to get both openers to operate off the same remote as they are different style openers. The exception may have been if one was installed with a converter kit to make them match.

There is information on programming in the manuals, which you can find at Manage My Home. If you have problems getting the opener to store a new remote then the memory may need to be reset. There is more information on parts ordering, finding your manuals, and programming in the links below.
